Left There - 2006
This was a site-specific installation in north Boulder created in a thicket of wild willow shrubs with a narrow and uneven path leading through.
A theme of naivete and whimsy mixed with dark ambiguity is created in this piece. While addressing the issue of roles placed on children (a young girl being feminine and a young boy being adventurous) as inaccurate, this piece will also suggest a vague reference to sexuality (finding underwear in the shrubs) and violence (finding underwear in the shrubs). Promiscuity and vulnerability combine in the ambiguous imagery.
